Integreted analyses of lots of high-resolution shallow seismic profiles and drilling cores obtained in the coastal to shelf areas of the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, and East China Sea will be conducted to establish the chronological and sequence stragigraphy. The main objectives of this study are to reveal the temporal and spatial distribution patterns of various sediemntary systems, high-resolution sedimentary evolutional history, and sedimentary records of climatic and environmental changes in the coastal to shelf areas of East China since the Late Pleistocene, and to illustrate the developing process and sedimentary records of the northeastern coast of the Jiangsu coastal plain under interactions of climatic and sea-level fluctuations and sediment supply from the Yellow River and/or the Yangtze River. Based on above researches, a global correlation of the climatic and sea-level changes since the Late Pleistocene will be made. This study is of scientifically significance in probing deeply into regional responses to the global change and the processes and mechanism of sea-land interactions.
